The Viper V2 became a best seller on the strength of its vicious tanto blade and aggressive spine jimping, so dropping that blade onto a Rapid Fire body was an easy call. The Rapid Fire Viper blade runs slightly wider and shorter than the Viper V2, and that geometry makes for a very robust tanto with a centered tip built for hard-use cutting and piercing.
The steel is cryo-treated D2, the same workhorse we run in our Tracker-X fixed blades. D2 is extremely tough, close to stainless, with excellent corrosion resistance and edge retention that holds up through heavy use. The cryo treatment tightens it up further, and the tumbled graywash titanium nitride (TiN) coating adds a scratch-resistant, non-reflective finish on top.
If it ain't broke...our elongated honeycomb texture has been a Rapid Fire favorite for years, so why change a good thing?
